The Minecraft World
Thinking like a mathematician and a cartographer.
Thinking as mathematicians and cartographers, Kuya children collaborated to build a Minecraft world of Ngutu College. Children used their knowledge of the environment and birds eye view photographs to develop their accuracy of the world.
There’s the Ngutu firepit, it’s beautiful!

This project was led by children, and by honouring their existing skills and passions, it enabled a high level of engagement and possibilities of developing skills of team-work, negotiation, flexibility, leadership, encouragement and trust between children that may not have normally chosen to work together.
Children described that their success of creating the digital world based on the real world, came from everybody working together to build parts and strong communication between team members.
